Bill A. Simco Graduate Research Scholarship (College of Arts and Sciences)

Only fulltime graduate students currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program in the Department of Biology at the UofM may apply. Applicants are eligible to receive a total of two Simco grants during their program. An applicant seeking support for a new project or a continuation of a previously supported project must submit a new application. Each application is evaluated independently. To receive additional funding, the applicant must have submitted a completed report of their previous research funded by the Simco grant.

1. One Award will be made each year from funds provided by donors.
2. The Biology department Graduate Studies Committee will determine awards, based on the following from the required student research proposal and budget: 1) introduction, 2) purpose and objectives, 3) methodology, 4) justification, and 5) budget/feasibility.
3. Research grants may be used to support scientific investigation in Biological Sciences.
4. Funding may be used for purchase of equipment, supplies, travel, or other research expenses.
5. Research must be overseen by faculty in Department of Biological Sciences.
6. Applications must include a description of the proposed research, and a budget indicating how the funds will be used.
7. Funds must be spent by June 30 of the award year (academic year following application and selection).
