River City Partnership Sedgwick Scholars (College of Education)
Applicants must have applied and been accepted to the University of Memphis before being considered for this award. The award is available to Freshmen, Sophomore, or Junior students and is renewable for up to 4 years for students attending the University of Memphis campus in Memphis, TN. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining satisfactory academic progress and meeting the requirements of the River City Partnership. Additionally, applicants selected to move forward in the process will be contacted via the email in early February and asked to complete an online questionnaire. Then, virtual interviews will be held on the University of Memphis campus in late February and early March.
Note: This scholarship may be combined with other University wide academic scholarships, including Dean, Provost or Presidential scholarships, as well as the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship and external scholarships and grants.
Award Criteria
- Admission to the University of Memphis and enrollment in a teacher education program supported by the River City Partnership.
- Freshmen applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and/or a 21 ACT score. All others must have a cumulative UG GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Eligible applicants must submit a 250-word essay that describes their interest in teaching in Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) or local charter schools. Why do you wish to teach in MSCS or a local charter school?
