Terry Tankersley Memorial Scholarship (College of Education)

This award(s) shall be given to a full-time enrolled University of Memphis undergraduate student with the following stipulations:
A. The award must be a student with a declared major in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and hold at least Junior academic status and with no less than a 3.25 overall GPA.
B. Candidates for the award must demonstrate a desire to pursue dual licensure in Special Education and Elementary Education, or subsequent successor programs designed to prepare students to educate individuals with special needs, and/or students who demonstrate a desire to pursue a career as a co-teacher in an inclusive classroom or similar comparable position.
C. Candidates for the award must provide the selection committee with a written one-page statement delineating why they have chosen to pursue this career path, including any influences or circumstances which may have led them to this decision.
D. Awardees will be expected to volunteer, outside their academic pursuits, no less than 10 hours per semester to non-profit organization(s) whose mission is to assist and enhance the lives of individuals with learning challenges.
E. The award will be limited to individual student(s) for a maximum of two (2) consecutive years.
F. The award is not automatically renewable. Student(s) must reapply each year to be considered for the award.
