Cox Family Memorial Scholarship Fund (College of Education)

It is the donors intent that this scholarship benefit students with financial need, and that individual awards be sufficient to allow recipients to focus on their studies without the concern of financial burdens or debt. This award(s) shall be given to undergraduate student(s) who meet(s) these qualifications:

A. Recipient(s) must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time and fully admitted to the undergraduate program with no less than a 3.25 GPA.

B. Recipients must have graduated from a high school located in the state of Tennessee.

C. Preference shall be given to applicants:
I. Applicants who intend to pursue a career facilitating the educational development of individuals with learning challenges. First preference shall be given to applicants pursuing dual licensure in Special Education and Elementary Education, or subsequent successor programs that prepare students to educate individuals with special needs. Second preference shall be given to applicants who demonstrate a desire to work in an inclusive classroom as a co-teacher or similar, comparable position.

II. Applicants who demonstrated financial need as determined by a review of the student’s completed FAFSA form or successive similar form.

III. Applicants who receive and retain the TN HOPE Lottery Scholarship or successive similar award. This award may be applied toward tuition and fees not covered by the HOPE scholarship and/or other aid.

D. Awards are not automatically renewable; recipients must reapply each year to be considered.

Award recipients, the number of awards, and the amount of each award shall be determined by a committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. The selection process shall be coordinated through the University’s Scholarship Office.
