CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service (SFS program starting Spring 25)
CyberCorpsSFS is a unique program designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of federal information assurance professionals that protect the government’s critical information infrastructure.
Scholarship Components:
- Up to 3 years of support for undergraduate and graduate (MS or PhD) education
- Academic-year stipends of $27,000 per year for undergraduate students and $37,000 per year for graduate students
- Tuition and education related fees (does not include items such as meal plans, housing, or parking)
- Professional allowance of $4,000 for SFS Job Fair and other travel, professional certification, etc.
- Book allowance of $2,000
- Participation in virtual and in-person job fairs in Washington, D.C.
- Post-graduation government service requirement for a period equivalent to the length of scholarship
Eligibility:
- US citizen or lawful permanent resident
- Demonstrate a commitment to a career in cybersecurity
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Full-time student with one of the following programs in Spring 2024 or Fall 2024:
- Bachelor program (junior or senior year)
- Accelerated BS/MS dual degree program (junior, senior or last year of graduate study)
- Masters program (first or second year)
- Ph.D. program (at least third year)
UofM CyberCorps Program
Students in cybersecurity will receive professional training and education with foci on cybersecurity knowledge, hands-on skills, problem-solving capabilities, and competitive advantages. For any questions, please contact Rhonda Smothers, CyberCorps coordinator at rsmothrs@memphis.edu.
Basic Requirements:
- Sign CyberCorps: Scholarship For Service (SFS) Service Agreement
- Sign a Forgivable Loan Promissory Notes
- Maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
- Participate in CyberCorps cohort activities
- Continued ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Apply for, receive, and participate in internships each summer with an approved governmental agency
*Apply for, receive, and accept a full-time position with an approved governmental agency upon completion of degrees; and complete service at that agency equal to the time funded by the scholarship.
Note:
Once you are awarded this CyberCorps scholarship, it is highly recommended that you not accept other scholarships or hold any part-time jobs since the SFS scholarship has a competitive package.
