Faculty Emeritus Scholarships (Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law)
Recipients shall be 1st yr students at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and shall be selected in accordance with the following criteria:
1. An LSAT score projected to be above the 75th % of the 1st yr class with which the scholarship recipients enter the law school. (It is recognized that some or all of the scholarship may be awarded prior the entering class being finalized and a precise determination of the 75th % being made. In such cases, the Award Committee shall use the pool of applicants existing at the time of the award and the LSAT distributions of past classes to estimate the LSAT score for the 75th%.) In yrs. in which the pool of applicants and other circumstances prevent all the scholarships from being awarded, preference will be given to those students with LSAT scores as close as possible to the 75th%.
2. F/T status.
3. The School of Law reserves the right to require up to 8 hrs/wk of service as long as the service is conveyed to the student in the initial award letter prior to acceptance of the award and matriculation at the UOM School of Law.
4. The scholarship is renewable for 2 additional years or 4 semesters, provided the student is in the top 50% of his law class at the end of the 1st yr & 2nd yr of law school. Pref shall be given to applicants who will increase diversity of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Diversity may include first-generation college graduate(s), foreign-born, or a first-generation US citizen; whether a student is a graduate of a historically minority undergraduate institution; whether a student has a disability; or whether a student is or was economically disadvantaged.
