Papasan Family Endowed Scholarship

Papasan Family Endowed Scholarship

Larry Papasan started his career at Memphis Light, Gas & Water, climbing the corporate ladder there to become president. After 28 years at the public utility, he retired but felt compelled to do something for the dedicated employees, retired employees and their families that he had come to know so well after all those years. He felt the best way to “pay it forward” was to give the gift of education to the MLGW family. Papasan expressed his feelings this way, “I have always believed in Memphis and felt that the University of Memphis, a great university, could help make Memphis a better city. Every great city in America has a great university and the UofM fills that role in Memphis.”

Impact

Thank you for this opportunity. Not having to take out more loans is truly a blessing that I will forever be grateful for. I am extremely excited to graduate with less focus on paying back loans and more focus on my future.
