Morgan Morton Family Scholarship

Morgan Morton Family Scholarship

Post graduation from the University of Memphis in 1963, Morgan Morton embarked on an interesting journey that led to a successful business career. Upon retirement, Morton began to reflect on his career, the multitude of challenging assignments, over 12 relocations and management responsibilities in over 100 countries and six continents. He concluded that the foundation for his success began in his hometown of Collierville. In his eyes, the education and value system afforded him in Collierville was critical to his success. Upon retirement, he and his wife decided it was time to go back to his roots and help others realize the same opportunities he had enjoyed. The Mortons annually provide a four-year scholarship to a senior at Collierville High School who needs financial assistance, has excellent academic credentials, has a broad base of participation in non-academic activities and demonstrates outstanding leadership potential. The final qualification is that the recipient must follow Morton’s educational track and pursue a business degree through Fogelman College of Business and Economics. After 13 consecutive years providing scholarships, the Mortons could not be happier with their decision. They believe the students are wonderful and enjoy the additional benefit of getting to know each of them personally. Morton is particularly pleased when a former student comes back for a visit seeking his career advice.
