H. H. McKnight Memorial Law Scholarship

H. H. McKnight Memorial Law Scholarship

This scholarship was generously funded by Robert Wampler in memory of his mentor Harris H. McKnight. Robert Wampler, a double graduate of the University of Memphis, graduated in 1972 from law school and in 1969 with a BBA in Business Management. Currently a partner at Wampler and Pierce, P.C., he has built a successful practice focused on domestic relations and contract litigation.
His mentor, Harris H. McKnight, was a 1950 graduate of Southern Law School, now known as the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. McKnight was a navy veteran, originally from Texas, who eventually became a noted criminal lawyer. Robert Wampler began clerking for McKnight in 1969 and continued throughout law school. Upon graduation from Memphis Law, Mr. Wampler stayed with Mr. McKnight until his death in 1977. McKnight taught Wampler many memorable lessons, including passing on the advice, “They’re not really your client until you’ve written the receipt.”
